Area Light Explorer

O.K. now! I have spent a fair share of my time in research and development on the concept of organization.

How should we organize all the content, information, sites, and people that associate through Area Light? Well the initial answer might be in the ordered arrangement of forums, blogs, groups, profiles, etc. Ning has done a good job of intelligently organizing these and integrating them for usability.

At the upper right hand corner of any Ning you will find a Search Social Network field. Since we have a handful of consistent themes such as personal, professional, organizational, and geographic, we would expect so many people to utilize those terms that any search thereof would likely yeild at best the latest entries tagged as such.

With a wiki, we can organize the directory from a multitude of views. The workload and satisfaction of the wiki as a service and resource can be distributed directly among site members.

We are experimenting with a modeling and design methodology for our site. The underlying body of thought will be the idea of building a Holonic Knowledge-Base.

So tune in to see what we do with this. In keeping with our theme of transparency, this production is brought to you by Nascent Dynamics ( ) Modern Business for the Modern Environment.

Let's start with a case study we are thinking about. We have a handful of members we have been keeping an eye on since we checked them out on our Area Light Explorer group.

Time to go back to the drawing board and sleep on it. We'll be back soon with the documentary of the project.

Best,

Finally getting around to moving forward on the Area Light Collective project again.

Right now, I am using the Area Light Explorer segment as an experiment to work out the details. As it turns out, we might make it more of a proprietary project to incorporate the wiki, but I am still committed to opening it up as a collaboration to those who really want to be a part of it. Perhaps one benefit will be that the wiki resource can be used by anybody who might create their own, but enjoy the fact ours is set up, organized around a useful theme, integrated with Area Light, and does not require them to create/ manage their own.

I'm also centering in on the concepts of personal, professional, organizational, and geographic service social networking. It seems the best way to break anything and everything down along those categories is to put in values of perspective...thus giving me something to talk about that people might find beneficial to look into or contribute to. Where the Holonic Knowledg Base may have been oriented on supporting navigation through Area Light is in question given we already have the Search Social Network feature. I think the solution may be in distinctions and integrations between both assets based on their aspects of usability and information management.

Overall, the project is a big part of how I plan to document and organize my own research and development, so I know in the end it will be useful in helping me to access and present customized information based on whatever relevant opportunities I run into. At the same time, as an extension somewhat of Area Light Member Services, I see the aggregation of content parts a great way of stimulating discussions and activities to the community. Quite possibly I see a major influx of content and topics coming in from my geographic networking projects NorCal and Chicoplace. So it's going to be interesting to see how using the Area Light Collective for my purposes will make it a value to other potential end-users looking to make the most of their social networking experience, and optimizing the interactions on Area Light with a steady flow of discussions such as on the Area Light Open Forum.

Best,
