While I support the open disclosure of ideas and all the good reasons behind it, I have to admit sometimes I hold ideas to myself. I was just watching the video Etienne posted on the Future Of Technology- the surface screen technology- and I got excited about some inventions I have in mind. Now I know where to go to get down my creative ideas- mindfrenzy.com. However, the ideas I post there are actually usually ones I don't feel I have a vested interest in really pursuing. I've got some ideas I do want to pursue. In fact, I get so excited about it, I really start thinking about what it will take to materialize them.
I'd like to discuss some of that paradox. All those arguments to post an idea are fine with me. I'd be happy to do it. However, I want (for some strange reason) for the right people to be there and paying attention when I do. I actually want engineers and technology geeks hanging around and talking shop etc. When I present my idea, I know the technology exists to put it together- just hasn't been done yet. I'd like to get these guys real excited and naturally see them get to work materializing it- just to see if it can be done or to have the result for our own use.
Investment people is probably the first thing that comes to mind when people ar thinking about setting down ideas for inventions or technology etc. However, the things I want to create are actually things I want to use for my business ventures. I know having those tools will give me a competitive advantage, but also allow me to materialize my business vision just as I have it in mind. So I don't necessarily care about the money on the ideas. I just want to see them happen and have the products available to me without having to pay market costs. One of my business lines is all about developing technologies on the basis of what you can imagine. So I'd be happy to team up with Mind Frenzy on this.
I just can't help holding my ideas. The excitement overwhelmes me and overrides my reason...kind of like finding a diamond the world deserves to see- but keeping it all to myself for my own pleasure! Maybe we could talk about ways to get certain people in certain activities playing around on the site or perhaps a social network built around the concept.
