We are doing this for ourselves and extending free services in support of our members in order to make this a social networking community of choice. Obviously, the more people who frequent Area Light, the more attractive we will be for corporate sponsors. However, to get from here to there, we decided we should build from the bottom up. We are particularly interested in serving home-based and small-businesses just like ourselves. One of the free services we offer to all our members is an introduction to the social networking platform we use. Ning is free. So after you have had a chance to familiarize with the features on Area Light, we recommend setting up your own specialized networks for your business, staff, and customers- then continuing to represent yourself here. You can learn from our experience or even contribute your own in our group, "The Next Big Ning", or just contact us directly and we will be happy to walk you through the process free of charge.

2) Working together, we can offer great products and services to our member community as just one more value-add for frequenting this social network. However, how we go about this must be sensitive to the broader dynamics of our environment. Our initial recommendation is to join as a person, contribute as a professional, and intelligently position your business as a welcome addition to the community. In order to facilitate this, Area Light is designed with this in mind from the beginning- all the work to create the right environment is being done for you! 3) Area Light social networking is an intelligence-based solution to modern business challenges. The downside to making this outstanding platform free to everyone is too many people will create networks without a lot of participation. This is one reason we emphasize our members can use this community as a directory and social network hub. Additionally, we are proactive in our outreach in order to give good reason to attract more participation. One of our free organizational services is redefining local area networking. That is, we encourage everyone to relate geographically and to create groups based on cities or regions in addition to other areas of interest such as photography, internet security, and chef services etc. By doing this we can infuse membership, connect them with their physical communities through online social networking, and even broaden their reach across other networks and locations.
